Needle Felting Corriedale Wool Roving Top -
The Felted Ewe proudly offers the highest quality Needle Felting Wool Roving Top in a wide variety of yummy Colors! These fairly smooth & straight Corriedale Wool Top fibers are about 25 to 30 Microns with staple lengths varying from 3 to 6 inches. Also great for Doll Hair & Spinning!
They are commercially dyed & carded which makes for great color consistency when you need to reorder your favorite colors but please order enough to complete your project as they can, on occasion, vary from dye lot to dye lot.
Wool carding, using a Commercial or Drum Carder, is the process of brushing the wool with wire teeth, in this case, to slightly align the fibers and clean much of the vegetable matter (VM) from the wool.
The longer fibers resulting from this process are called tops. The wool is then divided into easy to use Roving Strips or Ropes, about the thickness of an empty toilet paper roll & with a slight twist. Because Roving consists of a blend of slightly aligned & non-aligned fibers, you may find it easier to start Needle Felting these fibers by first conditioning them.
You do this by repeatedly pulling the fibers apart so they are going in multiple directions. Really mess them up! Then roll them tightly & you will find that they felt down to a sculptable density much quicker making them easier to use for all your Needle Felting projects!
Due to the nature of the cleaning process, some vegetable matter may be left behind. Because these are commercially dyed we cannot guarantee colors will be exactly the same from Dye Lot to Dye Lot so please order enough to complete your project. We also cannot guarantee the color fastness of any of these fibers. Please test prior to use when water will be involved.
Please Note: Although we attempt to portray colors as accurately as possible, some color samples shown may not be exact. Factors such as your computer monitor, brightness and contrast settings and gamma setting can all affect the colors shown.
